Anorexia Nervosa

People with this eating disorder worry about their weight and food more than other people. They are often under weight and fear being fat. The sufferer may go to great lengths to avoid eating and may use laxatives or even cause themselves to be sick should they eat any food. Though Anorexia Nervosa is more common in teenage girls and young women it is can also affect older women and men.

Some of the symptoms can be:

* Not being able to admit you have a problem
* Worrying about putting on weight and getting fat
* Thinking you are fat even when you are under weight for your height and size
* Not wanting treatment

Bulimia Nervosa

If you suffer from bulimia you will at times lose control and eat vast amounts of food. You then worry that you will put on weight and so take drastic actions like making yourself sick, taking laxatives, or doing excess exercise trying to burn off all the food you have eaten so you do not gain weight. You keep all of this a secret from people as you may feel guilty or ashamed of your actions.

Some of the symptoms can be:

* Thinking about food all the time
* Losing control and binging on foods in secret
* Making yourself sick, taking laxatives, or doing excessive exercise after you have eaten in order to get rid of the calories
* Being caught in a vicious circle of emptying your stomach, feeling calm for a while, then eating compulsively again

Binge eating disorder

This is where the sufferer binges on huge amounts of food but do not try to avoid gaining weight by vomiting or using laxatives. You may have feelings of hating yourself and feeling low and depressed.

How can hypnotherapy help?

Hypnotherapy and hypno-analysis are effective in helping people with eating disorders to discover the cause of their eating disorder and allows them to take back control of their lives.
